I attended this school for my sophomore and freshman year and I will say I enjoyed my time being there. Most students are welcoming if you come as a new student and have respect towards each other. There are some great programs at the school such as all sports, theater, Foreign Language, and Art. I took theater as an elective at this school and it was a fun experience. Also took German and the class was very fun and interesting!! If your coming as a new student here!! Anybody can fit in, there are all different types students. Definitely give this school an A+, wish I still went here.

Parents that are complaining at this school and blaming the school itself for the short-comings of their precious little Susie or Johnny need to take a look in the mirror and see where the real issues are. SRHS has a wonderful staff (not perfect) and a very committed leadership team that are always looking for ways to better improve student achievement. These teachers (and staff) are not only expected to educated the students but act as mentor, role model and many times - PARENTS. That is so much to ask of a career that pays very little with so many expectations. If we as parents decided to do our parts at home, then the jobs of the teachers would be much easier and the results, much more rewarding.

Teachers are not very well trained, students are not well disaplined in the classroom, teachers do not express very good interactive skills with children.

My experience as a parent of a child at SRMS has been more pos than neg. I am however concerned with the test scores I have seen on this site. I am concerned that my son is not getting the educational advantages that other schools in our area are receiving. I am also concerned with the lack of updates for the buildings on campus. The buildings are out dated and need many upgrades. I know that they in the process of building a new gym, but really there are many other things that need be added before the gym. For example: the trailers the kids are being taught in. But honestly over all I do feel that my son is being taught in a safe enviorment. I also feel that most of his teacher are concerned with the success of my child.

I as a student of this fine spirited school, feel there should be some changes, or shall we say minor improvements. First of all the condition of the school itself overall I give it a C++. But, I feel that we need to get this new gym thing on a roll. Because, it's just to small and overcrowded. And, our school needs to be a tad bit bigger. We, need better school supplies such as, computers, etc. And, I feel that the school has very go discipline methods such as M.I.P., and Bridge School. And, I feel that our staff is pretty outstanding. And, our principals are wonderful. Despite our faults this is a great school to be a part of. And, we have so many programs to and activities to chose from.

SRHS is a great school, however, as most do, it has its downfalls. Sure, it has outstanding teachers and a caring administration, but what is really going on underneath what spectators see? Some teachers (I'm not saying all) have poorly developed lesson plans and poor control over their class. Part of this isn't their fault. I know SRHS is a good school athletically and academically, but the teachers and administration has its downfalls.

SRHS has a very active PTSA. The teachers come early or stay late to tutor--they care. My daughter really took advantage of that and she is a top student. It has the best (students and teachers are award winners) art department in the region. The fine arts department works together well and has done fantastic musical plays for the past two years.

Staunton River has got to be one one the best schools in the district because the teachers and administrators are some of the most caring and trustworthy people I have ever met. Also I believe this because when I first started going to Staunton River in the 6th grade I was very hyper active and had a hard time working, but as the years have progressed I have been able to do better and concerate more and this is all because of the help and encouragement I have received from my teachers and principals.
